Rick and Yvonne Sumner formed Sumner Construction in Wasilla, Alaska in 1983. All three of our children were born and raised right here in the Mat-Su Valley. Through the years we have been involved in the construction of hundreds of homes and commercial properties in the Mat-Su valley, and as far afield as Fairbanks to Juneau to northern Nevada. We have always been hands on through the whole building process from selecting homesites (Yvonne - BS Geology, UAF) through the planning (Rick is a self taught professional quality draftsman) to the final finish.
We have quietly, steadily, carefully built a reputation for constructing high quality durable homes of the latest style, using the latest proven technologies and materials. We stand behind our product one hundred percent and now offer a 1 year “bumper to bumper” warranties, 2 year electrical and plumbing system warranty, 10 year structural warranty and a 10 year central heating system warranty. Our business phone line, 376-8398, has not changed in the 27 years we have been in business. It has never been difficult to reach us and we always return calls and emails.
In 2007, with the return of our oldest son Jesse from college (BS Physics, UCSB) to join the family business, we changed our company name to Sumner Company as we incorporated. In 2009 our second son Max (BBA Finance, BA Economics, Gonzaga) also returned to join us. Together we form a seasoned, smart, tough team of competitors and believe that if you compare apples to apples you'll find no better value for your hard earned dollars than a Sumner Company home. We have many existing in-house plans to choose from and the CAD programs and drafting skills to adjust them to your needs or even to design your new dream home from scratch.
Over the years we have seen many of the latest and greatest builders come and go, often leaving their obligations to their customers unfulfilled. We have been here long before yesterday, are here today and with the new generation will be here long after tomorrow. This is something every prospective new home buyer should carefully consider when making the choice of their builder.
